This Antigua shore excursion combines the island’s maritime history with scenic coastal sightseeing and relaxed beach time. It is designed for cruise passengers who want to experience Nelson’s Dockyard, English Harbour and an Antigua beach without spending their entire port day on a standard island sightseeing loop.
Meet your ACE representative at the designated cruise-port pickup point in St. John’s. After a short introduction, begin the drive toward Antigua’s historic southern coast.
Travel through the island’s countryside toward English Harbour. Your guide can provide information about Antigua’s history, landscape, local communities and maritime heritage along the way.
Spend time exploring Nelson’s Dockyard, the historic naval complex at English Harbour. The restored Georgian buildings, waterfront and surrounding National Park provide an opportunity to learn about Antigua’s colonial and maritime history.
Continue through the English Harbour area, where visitors can see the sheltered harbor and its sailing environment. Allow time for photographs and a relaxed walk around the historic waterfront.
Travel up to Shirley Heights for one of Antigua’s best-known panoramic viewpoints. From the lookout, guests can see across English Harbour and the surrounding southern coastline.
Continue to a suitable beach for approximately 60–75 minutes of leisure time. Guests can relax on the sand, take photographs, walk along the shoreline or enjoy a swim when conditions permit.
Depart the beach and return to the cruise port with sufficient time built into the schedule for passengers to rejoin their ship.
