Begin with pickup from your hotel or designated meeting point and travel toward one of Grenada’s spice-producing areas.
At De La Grenade Nutmeg Garden, travelers can learn about nutmeg, herbs, fruits and other spices in their natural environment. The garden also introduces visitors to the traditional and culinary uses of Grenada’s spices and locally produced products.
Continue to the Gouyave Nutmeg Processing Station, where visitors can see how nutmeg is selected, graded and packaged. The station also has a shop selling packaged spices and locally made products.
Continue with a locally focused meal featuring traditional Grenadian flavors.
Depending on availability, the meal may feature dishes such as oil down, seasoned fish, chicken, ground provisions, callaloo, rice and other locally prepared Caribbean specialties.
Oil down is particularly important to Grenadian food culture and is recognized by the Grenada Tourism Authority as the country’s national dish.
Return toward St. George’s for a cocoa-focused experience at the House of Chocolate.
The small museum and café presents the history of cocoa and chocolate in Grenada, with chocolate made on site alongside other cocoa-based treats.
Guests have time to sample or purchase chocolate products before concluding the tour.
