Your walk tour will begin from Victoria Square, the oldest square in the city of Pointe-a-pitre. Here you will be briefed of the history of the Guadeloupe from archaeological times to the twentieth century. Learn more on the founding of the city and monuments in the square. Cross the local little fresh fish sale point and see the catch of the day. Visit the church of the Saint- Pierre and Saint-paul built in 1807 and was completely destroyed in 1843 by an earthquake, and was re-built further in the 19th Century. Your next stop will be at statue of Marcel Lollia, a well-known Guadeloupe drummer. Here you will learn how Gwo-ka music trend and why it is important to the locals and how the first drum came to existence. Your last stop will be at the biggest local spice market, (Marché Aux Épices). Your guide will let you know about the origin of the most important spices and fruits.
